New Sponsor for the UK’s Premier National

Classic Car Hillclimb and Sprint Championship

The Bugatti Owners’ Club (BOC) is delighted to announce that the specialist tuning and component supplier Aldon Automotive is the new sponsor of its Classic Speed Championship for pre-1972 saloon cars, sports cars, sports and single seat racing cars.  Now entering its sixth season, the 12-round hillclimb and sprint championship runs from April until October, at venues which include Prescott, Shelsley Walsh, Harewood, Wiscombe Park, Gurston Down, Loton Park, Goodwood and Curborough.  Full details of the championship may be found at and at

Announcing the new sponsorship, BOC Competition Secretary Allan Cameron said:  “This is great news for classic hillclimbing and sprinting.  In the five years since the championship started with Paul Matty Sportscars as its sponsor, it has grown both in stature and size to the point where in 2014 we had 40 registered competitors over the three classes, with a season-long battle for top honours which wasn’t settled until the final round.  We are sure that this trend will continue and we at the BOC are delighted to have Aldon Automotive as our new sponsor.  Aldon’s founder Alan Goodwin is no stranger to our sport; he has been a successful motor sport competitor for over 50 years, and he is well-known as the manufacturer of Aldon sports racing cars.  We are hoping that he will compete with his own Aldon AL3 in our championship this year.”

Commenting on the new deal, Alan Goodwin had this to say: “When we started Aldon Automotive over 45 years ago, the cars we modified and tuned were of the same era as those in the championship we are now sponsoring.  We are still working on and developing such machinery, so this couldn’t be more appropriate.  All of us in the business are delighted to be involved with the Bugatti Owners’ Club and this championship and, from a personal perspective, I am looking forward to competing with some of the best drivers and classic machinery at many of the best motorsport venues to be found anywhere.”

Aldon Automotive ( was founded by engineers Alan Goodwin and Don Loughlin in 1969, and is based at Brierley Hill in the West Midlands.  It specialises in providing high performance tuning and engineering services and components for modern and classic road and competition cars.  It is particularly well known for its rolling road, ignition and fuelling expertise.  Alan Goodwin started competing as a driver in 1962, since when he has enjoyed success across most disciplines, racing in single seaters, sports and saloon cars, and taking part in rallies, sprints, hillclimbs and autotests.  That same enthusiasm is replicated across Aldon Automotive; Alan’s daughter Deana Mannings who runs the business, was a rally driver for over 10 years, and most of their employees have competed at one time or another.
